Performance Opportunities
CAPMT Piano Solo/Ensemble Auditions
Most of my students are involved with this program.
All Levels open to all ages
Fee: $30.00 per student solo, levels 1-3
$35.00 per student solo, levels 4-6
$40.00 per student solo, levels 7 - 9
$25.00 per student ensemble, all levels
Dates: 2020 will be by virtual submissions only
For Piano Solo Auditions, the students memorize 2 pieces and also play a duet (with music). For Ensemble Auditions the students (duets or ensembles) may play with music. The students are adjudicated and will receive a rating and written comments from an experienced adjudicator, as well as a certificate. Students earning a rating of 5 are invited to perform at the CAPMT (California Association of Professional Music Teachers) Piano Solo and Ensemble Festival. This year the date and location of the Northern Festival and the Southern Festival will be announced at a later time.
CAPMT Honors / Contemporary Competitions
Honors Auditions is decided by the student and teacher on an individual basis.
This is a statewide audition program for serious, competitive students of all instruments and voice, excluding organ. Honors Auditions foster advanced competition skills through heavier repertory demands.
Fee: $50.00
Date: Virtual submission only
The Contemporary and Honors' finals will be held -- TBA

MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Competitions**
MTNA Competition involvement is decided by the student and teacher on an individual basis. There are 4 levels: Elementary, ages 5-10 (for composition only), Junior, ages 11-14, Senior, ages 15-18, and Young Artist--college.
The MTNA National Competitions PERFORMANCE (State Level: California) will take place virtually. Winners will move on to the MTNA National Competitions PERFORMANCE (Division Level: Southwest United States), location TBA. Winners at the Southwest Division Level will move on to the MTNA National Competitions PERFORMANCE FINALS, which will take place at the 2021 National Conference (live or virtually).
**2020-2021 MTNA National Student Competition Information is now available online. Online Application Deadline: Wednesday,September 16, 2020 , 3:00 p.m. EDT (12:00 noon PST)
Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long
This is an annual, all-student event.
Date: Possibly a Zoom Event, December 15, 2020

Piano Evaluations
The majority of my students are involved in this program.
This is an end-of-year evaluation for both students and teacher. The students will receive written comments and evaluations from an experienced adjudicator, as well as a certificate. This program develops and evaluates performance of repertoire, technique, (scales, chords, etc.) sight-reading (music reading), written theory, and ear training. Students will memorize 2 out of 3 required pieces of their choosing, each from a different period of music history
Fee: $35.00/$40.00 depending on level

2 Student Recitals
These are sponsored by the Central Coast Music Teachers Association (CCMTA). They are optional, but a wonderful opportunity to perform and hear other students from all over the county playing a variety of music. Often times, the students who participate hear some piece of music that they would like to learn.
